EIII project News
EIII event summary
The first European Internet Inclusion Initiative (EIII) event was held in conjunction with ICEGOV2014 (the 8th International Conference on Theory and Practice of Electronic Governance), which was organized in Guimarães, Portugal, by the University of Minho, Agência para a Modernização Administrativa, and the Operating Unit on Policy-Driven Electronic Governance, UNU-EGOV.
The two-day EIII event served as an internal meeting for the project consortium but also contained three outreach components.
First, EIII organized a workshop open to the greater ICEGOV audience. It was moderated by Femke Polman (KING) and featured a discussion between two policy-makers: Leon van de Ven, Senior Policy maker for the Ministry of the Interior and Kingdom Relations in the Netherlands, and Halla Björg Baldursdóttir, Director of eGovernment at Registers Iceland.
Second, EIII was invited to host a session in the ICEGOV program entitled “The European Internet Inclusion Initiative (EIII)”. The session was moderated by Kim Andreasson (DAKA) and featured the following panelists: Mikael Snaprud (Tingtun), Annika Nietzio (FTB) and Shadi Abou-Zahra (W3C).
Third, Kim Andreasson and Mikael Snaprud co-authored a paper on “The European e-Government Web Accessibility Divide” and presented it at an ICEGOV thematic session on e-government in the information society. The paper and presentation put EIII into a broader context while highlighting how the project can help progress towards greater e-inclusion.
The next EIII event will unveil the results of two years of research and development on web accessibility at a conference on Friday 18 September 2015 at the Committee of the Regions (CoR) in Brussels, Belgium.
